From fifteen families
to a masjid of our own.
Blossom Valley Muslim Community Center was founded to serve the growing number of Muslim families in the Blossom Valley, Almaden Valley and South San Jose area.
Why BVMCC was founded
The number of Muslim families in our area has grown rapidly from fifteen families in 2003. BVMCC was founded to serve them.
Our founders wanted a center nearby where the Qur’an and the Hadith are studied and practised. Busy schedules made it difficult for families to commute to the other Islamic institutions around the Bay Area, so they established one close to home.
Over more than twenty years our community has grown to over a hundred families, and we outgrew our rented space. We have since purchased a new building, and renovation is now underway.

Where we prayed, and where we pray
Twenty-three years in a rented unit on Santa Teresa Boulevard, and the building on Cottle Road the community now owns.
« صَلَاةُ الْجَمَاعَةِ تَفْضُلُ صَلَاةَ الْفَذِّ بِسَبْعٍ وَعِشْرِينَ دَرَجَةً »
“Prayer in congregation is twenty-seven degrees better than the prayer offered alone.” Sahih al-Bukhari & Sahih Muslim
« مَنْ بَنَى لِلَّهِ مَسْجِدًا بَنَى اللَّهُ لَهُ مِثْلَهُ فِي الْجَنَّةِ »
“Whoever builds a masjid for the sake of Allah, Allah will build for him the like of it in Paradise.” Sahih al-Bukhari & Sahih Muslim
Three commitments
Congregational prayer
Five daily prayers and Jumu’ah, called and prayed on a published timetable so nobody has to guess.
Teaching the sources
The Qur’an and the Hadith studied and practised — for adults, for youth, and for children learning their first Arabic.
Building community
A center near home, so that families in South San Jose are not commuting across the Bay Area to pray and learn.
Where we are
Daily prayers are held at the new masjid on Cottle Road. Jumu’ah is held at The Plex while renovation continues.
